Biography

Kristi Lomax, a native New Yorker now calls Los Angeles home, but the spirit of Gotham City is kept alive through her music programming as host of the weekly radio show Restless Soul. Heard on LA’s progressive radio station, KPFK.

Armed with a nothing more than a homemade demo, Kristi submitted her cassette to the Program Director at KPFK and waited for her big break. Her radio career officially began at 12 Midnight in March 1999 when she became the new host of the Saturday Music Mix. In 2000 she was moved to prime time and Restless Soul was born.

XLR8R MagazineIn 2002 Restless Soul received an L.A. Weekly Music Award Nomination for Best Radio Show. For more then seven years Restless Soul has provided a cocktail of soul, world rhythms, and house music. Some of the biggest DJs/Producers in dance music have been guests, including Joe Claussell, Louie Vega (MAW), Ron Trent, Osunlade, Quentin Harris and L.A.’s own Marques Wyatt. Soul artists have included: Julie Dexter, Vikter Duplaix, Peven Everett, Rachelle Ferrell, Amel Larrieux, Les Nubians, N’dambi, and Siji, Kristi was featured in a special edition of XLR8R Magazine (Oct. 2003), which profiled leaders in the Los Angeles music scene.

Restless Soul can be heard Monday evenings from 10:30 pm - 12 Midnight (P.S.T.) on 90.7 FM, Los Angeles, CA and around the world on www.KPFK.org. Simultaneously, Kristi programs a Saturday afternoon mix show from 11am – 1pm (P.S.T.) on the Cyberjamz Radio Network, an Internet radio program dedicated to club music. The radio network can also heard on XM Satellite channel The Move.

Restless Soul also helped energize the club scene in Los Angeles. The bi-weekly Saturday night party Our House, where Kristi was a resident DJ, took dance music from the airwaves to the dance floor. Now Lomax can be found Djing at various venues around L.A.

As her voice continued to melt speakers across the city, it wasn’t long before Kristi found herself behind the mic at a recording studio. She lent her voice to the club tune "Love is…" which also featured the soulful vocals of house diva Donna Washington and was produced by Erik Wikman of Deep Swing. Kristi is currently in the studio working on various remixes and original productions.
